Free Glassnode Alternative: What We Give Away, What We Don't Have, and When Paying Is Worth It
Glassnode is the on-chain analysis benchmark -- and charges for being one. This is an honest comparison: what part of what it charges for you can get free with BlockPulse Analytics, what part we can't give you, and in which cases paying is still the right call.
If you're searching "Glassnode alternative" you'll find automatically generated lists of aggregators listing ten tools they've never used. This page is different: we wrote it ourselves, and we're one of those alternatives, so we owe you the highest standard of honesty -- starting with clearly telling you what we don't have and when Glassnode (or another paid tool) is simply the better option.
What Glassnode Is and What It Actually Costs
Glassnode is the best-known on-chain analysis platform in the industry: hundreds of metrics on Bitcoin, Ethereum, and altcoins, used by funds, exchanges, and professional analysts. Its prices, as of July 2026 (verified on its own pricing page, not hearsay):
- Advanced -- $49/month (billed annually): ~300 metrics at daily resolution, 4 years of history, 10 alerts, personal-use license, no API access.
- Professional -- custom pricing: 1,500+ metrics, up to 15 years of history, resolution down to 10 minutes, optional API with credits, commercial license.
- Vector (their signals product): starting at $749/month.
The most surprising detail of the entry-level plan: $49/month doesn't include either full history (4 years doesn't even cover a complete Bitcoin cycle) or API access. For full history you have to move up to the custom-priced plan.
What We Give You for Free (and Where Each Data Point Comes From)
BlockPulse Analytics covers, for free, in English, and with no sign-up, the core of Bitcoin cycle analysis:
- A cycle Score (-100 to +100) that combines ten on-chain and market indicators, with public methodology, a verifiable historical backtest since 2018, and -- no one else does this -- a page dedicated to where it has gotten it wrong.
- HODL waves and holder distribution by wallet size, calculated by us by walking the entire UTXO set from our own Bitcoin node -- the kind of data Glassnode and CryptoQuant charge for, because no free API offers it. We also publish the method, not just the result.
- MVRV, Puell Multiple, exchange flows, Stock-to-Flow, funding rate, dominance, Fear & Greed -- from free public sources (Coin Metrics Community, Binance, alternative.me), cited on every chart.
- A Bitcoin address analyzer that maps relationships between addresses, not just a transaction list like a block explorer.
- Free Telegram alerts when the Score changes phase.
The underlying difference isn't just price: it's the source. Part of our data doesn't come from a third-party API anyone could also subscribe to -- it comes from our own Bitcoin node, and the calculation method is publicly documented so you can audit it.
What We DON'T Have (Read This Before Deciding)
Here's the part "alternative" lists never tell you:
- We don't cover altcoins. We're Bitcoin-only, by conviction and by focus. If you need on-chain data for Ethereum or Solana, we're not your tool.
- We don't have thousands of metrics. We have the ones we consider essential for locating the cycle, well explained. Glassnode Professional has 1,500+; we don't match that breadth, nor do we aim to.
- Daily resolution. No data every 10 minutes: plenty for cycle analysis, not enough for intraday trading.
- No public API yet (it's on the roadmap, no committed date).
- No entity-adjusted metrics or per-exchange data -- that requires proprietary clustering at industrial scale.
- Our node is still completing its initial sync: some of our own metrics are currently published with partial data, and we flag it on the site itself whenever that applies.
When Paying for Glassnode Is Worth It -- and When It's Not
Pay for Glassnode (or CryptoQuant) if: you work professionally with on-chain data, need altcoins, intraday resolution, a commercial API, or niche metrics that only exist there. At that level, $49-999/month is a working tool, not an expense.
Don't pay yet if: you're a long-term Bitcoin saver or investor who wants to know what phase of the cycle we're in, whether the market is accumulating or distributing, and what the classic indicators (MVRV, HODL waves, flows) say. All of that exists for free -- here, with the methodology in plain view. Start free; if you ever outgrow it, the paid tools will still be there.
Other Alternatives You Should Know About
By the same standard of honesty, we're not the only free or accessible option:
- CryptoQuant -- Glassnode's direct competitor, with a limited free tier and paid plans. Strong in exchange flows and miner data.
- Bitcoin Magazine Pro / LookIntoBitcoin -- free Bitcoin cycle charts (with paid plans), well executed.
- CoinGlass -- specialized in derivatives (funding, open interest, liquidations). Complementary rather than a direct alternative.
- Nodecharts -- a Spanish-language on-chain platform, freemium (plans from roughly €20 to €200/month). If you're looking for more metrics in Spanish and don't mind paying, it's worth evaluating.
- CriptoATH -- a Spanish-language newsletter and educational on-chain content, with free calculators. More educational outreach than a platform.
